An ugly bottle-throwing incident last night ruined a rugby league masterpiece, as angry Rabbitohs fans threw bottles onto the SFS after watching their side go down at the death to bitter rivals the Roosters.

After Mitchell Aubusson settled a pulsating local derby with just four minutes remaining, Roosters pivot Todd Carney narrowly missed being struck in the head by plastic bottles while lining-up his ultimately successful conversion that sealed a brutal 18-14 win.

The missiles, however, were targetted at referee Jason Robinson - who gifted the Roosters vital field position with a contentious fifth-tackle play-the-ball penalty against Beau Champion moments earlier.

Both the SCG Trust and NRL will this review CCTV footage this morning, with those responsible facing life bans form Moore Park.

The heart-stopper was sealed the Roosters' first back-to-back victories since Round Two, and put them into the Top Four over Souths, who could drop out of the eight depending on other results this wekend.

Ahead 8-6 at halftime, Souths looked set to hold on for victory when Chris Sandow magnificently converted a Fetuli Talanoa try from the sideline to put his side back in front after Sam Perrett had earlier stolen the lead for the hosts.
