A man accused of the one-punch murder of former Brisbane Broncos junior Todd Parnell will face a committal hearing in May.
Twenty-one-year-old Wally James Hung, of Bribie Island, delivered the fatal blow during a fight with Mr Parnell, 22, at a function hall at Bongaree in July last year, prosecutors allege.
Mr Parnell, who played alongside the likes of current first-grade stars Sam Thaiday while at the Broncos, fell and hit his head on the ground.

He spent two days in intensive care with critical injuries before his family turned off his life support.
Mr Parnell played for local team the Bribie Island Warrigals and had been attending a post-game party at a function hall in the island's south when the incident occurred.
His death prompted South Sydney Rabbitohs first grade winger Jamie Simpson to dedicate a match-winning performance against the Sydney Roosters last year to his former team mate.
In the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, defence barrister Victor Supranowicz, representing Hung, said his client's case would require three, possibly four days for a committal hearing.
He said he intended to cross-examine the evidence of 29 civilian witnesses, a pathologist and several ambulance officers.
Fifteen police officers had given statements into the murder, but he was unsure if those officers would be required at the committal hearing.
"The issue is what the witnesses actually saw, some saw the assault, others give conflicting versions," he said.
Mr Supranowicz said CCTV footage relating to the investigation of his client "needs enhancement" and it was hoped that would be done before the hearing, which will decide whether there is enough evidence for him to stand trial for murder.
Hung is currently free on bail.
