Origin is a tough time for any tipster. Lucky for me I'm one of the best in the land and I solidified that statement with another fighting four from seven in round 16.

Canberra and the Roosters may have sprung a couple of surprises, but they haven’t won over the good old Adjudicator. It’s back to doing what I do best and that’s picking winners. The Raiders and Chooks are not winners.

A Monday night blockbuster between Manly and the Bulldogs highlights another sensational round of football with plenty on the line as the race for top eight heats up. Now strap yourself in as I prepare to make it an unprecedented seven from seven in round 17.

South Sydney v Wests Tigers, Saturday 5.30pm (EST), ANZ Stadium
The Adjudicator says: "One gets the feeling this showdown could be destined for a Toyota Cup-style war of attrition where both sides leak fifty odd points. The Rabbitohs won a thrilling SCG encounter 23-22 when these sides last met in round ten, but I just don’t see us getting that sort of spectacle in the re-match. Both teams are on struggle street and the only guarantee I can give is that this game won’t be pretty. Be prepared for a pulsating game of touch football where the biggest hit made will be by ‘Mr Gladiator’ Russell Crow’s lead drummer on the sidelines. Just wake me up when it’s over."

St George Illawarra  v Sydney Roosters, Friday 7.35pm (EST), WIN Jubilee Oval

The Adjudicator says: "Last week The Adjudicator proudly proclaimed that it would take at least six beers down the hatch for me to pick the Roosters over the Sharks. Well, strap me up to the keg because it’s going to take a few more litres of the good stuff for the Chooks to get my vote. Bennett’s boys are the real deal and will cake walk it home on the back of a dominant pack. 50 odd Roosters fans made the trek to the SFS to watch their beloved team breakthrough for a win against the Sharks, but they best stay home this time around."

Roosters fan Chester The Bear of Lane Cove: " Don’t forget that in the last 3 weeks of football, the Roosters have recorded the lowest number of missed tackles of any team in the NRL. Ok, they only won one, but the two they lost were cliffhangers decided by just a couple of points. This is a team on the rise, and another win or two will give them some much needed confidence. If the Dragons think this will be a training run, they’re in for a shock. Roosters by 2."

Roosters fan Steve B of Bondi says: " It takes someone really tough to continually bash (under an alias) a team that is clearly struggling. You don't think the fans hurt enough as it is with out the garbage you write about the club and the fans. Whilst I wouldn't say i'm confident that the chooks can beat the Dragons, one thing is for sure... The youngsters will show up and put up a hell of a fight. You are not witty nor intelligent. Up the chooks!."

Roosters fan Phil says: "hello buddy, the roosters are back & they will crush the dragons in a one sided thrashing. with Pearce controlling the ball and fitzy calling the shots. the roosters are back to there best. bennets little boys will get shown up for the pretenders they are. roosters by 24. long live the roosters

Dragons fan Sean Gaynor of Brisbane says: "The Dragon's this year are the biggest specials since Australia last played American Samoa at soccer, whereas the Roosters are probably going to approach the Pacific Islander's for a motivational speech on how to win after hearing they beat the might of Nauru last week. Beating Cronulla isn't exactly something to write home about. The secret recipe of Hornby, Soward & Boyd will combine to fry the chickens, and won't it be finger lickin' good to see the big Red Vee atop the table for another week."

Brisbane Broncos v Warriors, Friday 7.35pm (EST), Suncorp Stadium
The Adjudicator says: "What an interesting conundrum. The Broncos love conceding points and the Warriors can’t score any. Brisbane’s slide into rugby league oblivion should end for a short spell against a team that have won one game away from home all season. Stacey Jones is past his used by date and is incapable of firing up a team that should be a lot more desperate. Mrs Adjudicator made me turn off the Warriors performance against the depleted Titans at half-time because she was starting to feel a little squeamish. Needless to say there will be a bucket on hand in our household for this Friday night’s train wreck."

Warriors fan Darryn of Christchurch says: "I feel sorry for your wife, not only watching the warriors lose but having to listen to you pay them out every week. I agree with most you said Mr.A however your comments about Stacey are a dumbfounded as your ability to tip. We love him when he carry's the warriors to a win, and hate him when he does not produce vintage jones, on average he produce his best every 2nd or so game. If the Refs a wearing their perscription glasses, expect a big preformance for the boys from the long white cloud. Warriors by 6."

North Queensland Cowboys v Cronulla, Saturday 7.30pm (EST), Dairy Farmers Stadium
The Adjudicator says: "No shame in Cronulla losing out on making it five-straight following a courageous seven-point loss to the mighty Roosters. That would of course be the case if we were living in the ‘twilight zone’ of 2002. But this is 2009 and the Roosters are the worst team in the competition. Barrett or no Barrett, the Sharks have no excuse. The Cowboys are on a different playing field at Dairy Farmers Stadium and should be able to rope in the visitors. Johnathan Thurston is no doubt the man, but he needs to prove he can create more attacking opportunities for the Cowboys without the assistance of one Matt Bowen. Something he failed miserably to do against the Bulldogs."

Melbourne Storm v Newcastle Knights, Saturday 7.30pm (EST), Olympic Park
The Adjudicator says: "Coach Bellamy is a man under pressure following his NSW Origin defeat and a capitulation by the Storm against the Raiders. Surely Craig can’t lose two games in a row with a Queensland Origin side playing in disguise as the Melbourne Storm? There’s plenty at stake in this one with outright fourth place on the line. All eyes will be on Kurt Gidley to see if he can conjure up a big upset down Melbourne way, but I just don’t see it happening. The Knights are too up and down for my liking and don’t have enough firepower across the park to trouble the star-studded Storm at Olympic Park."

LATEST COMMENTS FROM FANS

Knights fan Jake Field  of Newcastle says: " I was almost on point with Monday nights prediction, until, the Knights decided to do what they are known so well for doing, giving up when the scoreboard looks good. Melbourne's performance lacked a little spark as well, but Melbourne are more predictable than the Knights and will come back strong and even a true Newcastle fan can see threat in this, but the Knights are coming from a win and the newer players appear to have a thirst for the finals that I don't think will be easy to fill. This game could go either way but only a converted try difference."

Canberra v Gold Coast Titans, Sunday 2pm (EST), Canberra Stadium

The Adjudicator says: "The Raiders will be riding high after breaking a seven-year drought against Melbourne, but were Canberra really that good? Or were the Storm just that bad? Scotty Prince and co will be ready to test those waters following another complete performance against the Warriors. It’s no secret the Gold Coast boys don’t like the cold and that will definitely pose a big challenge. But I’ve been thrown out in the cold by my better half a thousand times over and I still come up smelling like roses. Titans to get the job done."

LATEST COMMENTS FROM FANS

Titans fan Jake of Gold Coast says: "Thank you Mr Adjudicator for finally picking the Titans in a game this season. Its round 16 and we are tied for top spot along with the Bulldogs and the Dragons(both beaten by Titans),proving that we are not the mid-season chokers from our first two seasons. The Titans are on a four game winning streak and have proved that they can win without their stars, the raiders won't be winning this one."

Raiders fan Josh Colbourn of ACT says: " Mr adjudicator, of course the raiders will be as high as a kite. They beat a FULL strength Storm outfit. Monagham, Tom Learoyd - Lahrs, Campo and Shillington will all want to press for an origin appearance. The game is at Canberra which the last two times these teams have played here, the raiders have spanked the titans on both occasions. Raiders for the top eight, Raiders to spank the titans again, Raiders by 24."

Titans fan Jarrad Nairne says: " Even as a passionate Titans supporter i am at odds to tip the boys this week in Canberra given that the Raiders were so good against the Storm on the weekend. And when you have Bailey, Harrison, Minichello out and Rogers in doubt coupled with the fact we have lost by 30+ the last 2 times we have been there, im going to have to tip with my head and not my heart."

Raiders fan Brad Smith of Warner says: " You're kidding yourself Adjudicator. The MILK were great last weekend against the Storm, and when they turn up to play they're capable of mixing it with ANY side in the comp - let alone a pretty-boy Gold Coast side lost and confused in the icy realms of Canberra. Monners was back to his best last week, and Campo will want to put on another big one. Dugan has transitioned to first grade with ease, and don't forget about Tonguey - 110% every week. The Raiders are back !! MILK by 13+."

Cowboys fan Nathan of Canberra says: "The Sharks are hopeless. They win 4 straight and everyone's saying, "They're the best team ever, they'll make the semis!" It's crap. Look at the teams they beat: Eels. At that time, they were as coordinated as a chicken with it's head cut off. Warriors. Useless. Raiders. Have no sense of direction. Broncos. With mistake making youngsters. They then lost to the worst team in the competition, the Roosters which shows that they are awful. The Cowboys will run in at least 8 tries. They will have a chance to prove that they can make the top four. Cowboys by 40+. "

Raiders fans Len and Shirley of Mount Annan say: "Need I remind you of the titans last two trips to the nations capital they left with the tails between their legs getting spanked 56-10 and 46-4, I do believe that this game could also be a similar score line especially with the personnel that the titans are missing. I think Raiders by 20."

Penrith v Parramatta, Sunday 3pm (EST), CUA Stadium
The Adjudicator says: "Jarryd Hayne is the man of the moment and will again be one of stars of the show. Parramatta played some enterprising football against the Broncos and I’m backing the slippery Eels to surprise again at the foot of the mountain. The loss of Petero Civoniceva is a massive blow for the Panthers and I don’t think they can win without him. Penrith haven’t won a game of football for a month and that trend will continue. The Eels showed how to win on the road with a stirring performance against the Knights in round 13 and they will do it again this Sunday."

LATEST COMMENTS FROM FANS

Panthers fan Colin Parsons of Mount Annan says: "It’s going to be a big ask for Penrith, with the return of Jennings and Daniela the Panthers can match Hayne for speed and flair and will need to ensure halves combo of Walsh and Graham have a great kicking game. The Eels seemed to shock Brisbane with their flair and willingness to offload the ball... This will not happen to the Panthers who have shown this year they are also quite prepared to chance their arm and throw the ball around! In a close game, the Panthers will get a late one to win by 8.. but the one sure winner will be the crowd, these two teams should turn on a great display of attacking football."

Manly v Bulldogs, Monday 7pm (EST), Brookvale Oval

The Adjudicator says: "Everyone seems to think the Sea Eagles have officially turned the corner after stringing together five wins out of their last six. Those five victories were against the Broncos, Eels, Roosters, Panthers and Raiders. Five teams that combined have nothing on the in-form Bulldogs. The halves duo of Ben Roberts and Brett Kimmorley are firing on all cylinders and will take plenty of stopping. This is the real acid test for Hasler’s men to see if Fortress Brookvale can still be just that. The Dogs are barking up the right tree at the moment and will send the Sea Eagles soaring back to the drawing board."

LATEST COMMENTS FROM FANS

Bulldogs fan Mick of Bella Vista says: "I am sick of people saying the Dogs are pretenders. How many more teams do we have to beat. Storm - beaten; Broncos - Beaten; Cowboys - Beaten; Manly - already beaten once this year; Dragons - beaten in everyone's world except Steven Clarke's. Dogs to continue the run and win by 12. There isn't a team in the NRL who can match it with the boys from Belmore. "

Tobey Doctor of Bondi Beach –(i know i know but Manly is too expensive to live at anymore) says: "Hi there Mr Dudi Cator: I’m a Manly fan and i agree about the soft competition in the last few weeks means that it’s too early to say Manly have turned the proverbial. I am quite anxious to see how they perform against the Dogs who are playing great footy that is very exciting to watch indeed. HOWEVER ,considering Manlys last match was sans the talents of J Lyon, Wolfman( Origin? Who gives a rats about it, i just love my club!! ), Choc Watmough, B Kite and Glen Stewart and with these stars missing the team still convincingly outmuscled the opposition and contained them fairly comfortably I would not be as certain as you seem to write the Sea Eagles off. In truth i would not bet for or against Manly for this one as i think it’s going to be a close match too close to pick. Much obliged."

Sea Eagles fan Philby of Sydney says: " I actually think we will know after Monday night whether its the Dogs that are Pretenders or Contenders. Under-the-radar Hasler unveiled who I am going to dub the 'Rookie of 2009' in Keiran Foran, and I hope that Bailey will be moved to the bench so that the young kid can terrorise Noddy and Roberts. Manly have needed a second playmaker and the kid is the goods. Besides that Lyon and Wolfman will be smiting after mediocre performances for the Blues and will be out to prove a point. Manly by 14."
