STAR Rabbitohs hooker Issac Luke has lashed out at coach Jason Taylor's refusal to use him as an 80-minute player, the Kiwi World Cup hero insisting he's done enough on the field to deserve his position for the full match.

Named to start at dummy-half for the Bunnies against the Knights in Gosford today, Luke is set to share the hooking duties with Craig Wing.

Taylor has said he sees Luke as an impact player only, but the 21-year-old refutes that appraisal and has admitted to being confused by his coach's assessment.

"I'm not really sure how it's going to work with Craig Wing and I this week. The coach hasn't really spoken to me about it," Luke said.

"Jason Taylor and I had a talk after the World Cup and he told me then he doesn't think I'm an 80-minute player and he said I would be starting off the bench this year - which is pretty sad, to be honest.

"The only way I'm going to build up my match fitness is by playing more minutes and he's not really giving me a chance.

"I'm just glad I'm starting this week because the coach told me I was going to be off the bench. But I've told him I want to be an 80-minute player and a starter."

Meanwhile, former Rabbitohs hooker George Ndaira will front his old club today after being shifted to the Knights' starting side for his club debut.

A rib injury to playmaker Jarrod Mullen and the departure of Luke Walsh have caused a major reshuffle of the Knights' line-up, with another South Sydney reject in Ben Rogers given the nod to rejoin the team in the No.6 jumper.

Star recruit Isaac DeGois has been relegated to the bench, still feeling the effects of Monday's brutal win over the Sharks, opening the door for the Ndaira to start against the club that inexplicably abandoned him despite being one of few shining lights in last year's horror season.

"Brian Smith's told me he wants me to take my opportunities when they arise, to keep my head up and play what I see. And that's what I plan to do," said Ndaira, who is fighting for a long-term contract after signing on for just one season. "When I came here Brian asked me to put on a couple of kilos and I've worked hard in the pre-season on that."
