Salford City Reds new Kiwi star Jeremy Smith has insisted that any pressure placed on teenage starlet Richie Myler will be shouldered by the more experienced members of the team.

Speaking before jetting off to Jacksonville, Smith was keen to point out that he believed it was important to get off to a good start and that the Rugby League fraternity may not see the best of the impressive Myler until half-way through the season.

Having moved to the UK from South Sydney Rabbitohs in December, Jeremy made a try-scoring Reds debut against Leigh Centurions in the festive friendly and the atmosphere of the game lived up to every thing he had heard about the fans over here.

“I said to one of the other guys during the warm-up ‘How good’s this?”‘, the Salford fans, and the Leigh supporters to be fair were great.”
