In front of over 30,000 fans the Rabbitohs piled on nine tries to two, including a hat-trick to winger Nathan Merritt and a double to centre Beau Champion. Five-eighth John Sutton had a strong match ahead of State of Origin selection, pushing his claims for a Blues jumper, while Kiwis hooker Issac Luke turned in another strong performance. The Rabbitohs will play the Warriors in Auckland next weekend. Elsewhere, the Panthers have eased past the Sharks 34-14 in Cronulla. Centre Michael Jennings was a standout, pushing his claims for a NSW call-up for the opening Origin match on May 26. Jennings scored three tries as the Panthers moved up to second on the ladder with the win.
