FORMER Kiwi international Clinton Toopi will reignite his NRL career with the Gold Coast after veteran centre Mat Rogers was ruled out for up to 12 weeks with a medial ligament tear.
Toopi, who played 129 games for the Warriors, has not been sighted in the NRL since heading overseas to play for Leeds at the end of 2006.
Knee and shoulder injuries forced him back home early and he was playing rugby union for the Bay of Plenty before scoring a one-year deal with the Titans during the pre-season.
"It means so much - there's been a lot of doubt over my time since last year and since I got here it's been a tough road with injury after injury but I'm over that hump and now I'm lining up against Manly," said the 29 year-old Kiwi.
Titans coach John Cartwright said while the news was disappointing for Rogers it was always a nice feeling to deliver good news to a player who had worked so hard.
"To see all the hard work he's put in and so much time since his last NRL game, he'll go out there and give his best and that's all you can ask for," said Cartwright, who also named speedster Jordan Atkins in his squad to play Manly.
The injury news further up the highway at Brisbane wasn't good either with promising discovery Matt Gillett grounded for four to six weeks with a medial ligament strain, similar to the injury which has sidelined halfback Peter Wallace.
Brisbane, who named Rockhampton 20 year-old Ben Hunt as Wallace's replacement, will also be without prop Nick Kenny for another three to four weeks with a calf tear.
Back-rower Ben Te'o will take Gillett's spot in the centres, marking up on dreadlocked Canterbury enforcer Jamal Idris in an unchanged Bulldogs side.
Former Test winger Eric Grothe has been dumped to the bench for Parramatta's trip to Townsville to face North Queensland on Friday night. Krisnan Inu will shuffle out to the wing with Joel Reddy returning from suspension.
Cowboys coach Neil Henry has reacted to his side's dismal loss to Newcastle with experienced duo Antonio Kaufusi and Manase Manuokafoa dumped and Willie Mason elevated to the starting line-up.
Canberra have thrown former Queensland Origin winger Adam Mogg into the No.7 jumper for Sunday's match against South Sydney with regular halfback Josh McCrone sidelined with a groin injury.
"(Mogg) played most of his time in the Super League for the Les Catalan Dragons at halfback and the style we play more often than not sees Campo (Terry Campese) take control," coach David Furner said.
"They can interchange a bit as well which is an advantage for us."
Souths welcome back Eddy Pettybourne from a broken jaw and Ben Lowe from suspension.
Melbourne's Test prop Brett White is slated to play his first game of 2010 after being named on an extended bench for the clash with the Warriors on Sunday.
The Storm have also named Greg Inglis in their squad.
Inglis is rated a 50-50 chance of playing after scans cleared him of a major ankle injury after going down in Monday night's loss to Manly.
The Warriors have shuffled the deck with Brent Tate moved out to the wing and Kevin Locke dropped following the return of Jerome Ropati.
