HOW much is a promising rugby league career worth? More than $1 million, according to a Sydney judge.

Nearly six years after his career was destroyed by a terrible car accident, former Rabbitohs and Tigers winger Ahmad Bajouri earned a handsome compensation sum in Parramatta District Court on Wednesday.

The judge equated Bajouri's potential earnings in the NRL - he was aged 21 and had played 20 games when the accident occurred - to a seven-figure sum, which also took into account pain and suffering and medical expenses.

Bajouri, who played alongside the likes of Mark Gasnier in junior reps, suffered debilitating neck and back injuries and is still unable to work. Former Souths coach Paul Langmack gave evidence at the trial, along with a host of teammates and officials who provided written testimony to support Bajouri's case.
