David Taylor on the burst for the Brisbane Broncos.
The manager of Rabbitohs' bound Brisbane forward Dave Taylor says Jason Taylor's sacking won't impact the powerhouse prop's shift to Redfern at the end of the season.
Col Davis said Taylor's relocation from the Broncos to South Sydney was going full speed ahead and the sudden shift in coach from Taylor to John Lang made no difference to his impending departure from Red Hill.
"Not at all," Davis said. "The furniture removalist was at his place today. His wife is on the way down there."
That reassurance will be welcomed by the Rabbitohs as rumours swirled around Brisbane football circles yesterday that Taylor was fishing for a way out of his contract after having second-thoughts on leaving the Broncos.
Taylor had been flirting with the top grade through much of the season as he struggled with form and weight issues but has exploded into the NRL's top line, becoming one of the game's hottest players with his destructive cameos in the backline.
The 21-year-old, nicknamed the "Coal Train", has privately made it known he is leaving the Broncos with some regrets and would be keen to one day rejoin the club. Given his current heroics, there's little doubt Brisbane would hope that day comes sooner rather than later.
Taylor's departure has been an open sore for Broncos fans, many of whom are gobsmacked that such a damaging player earmarked for future representative duties could have slipped through their grasp.
Logan Taylor, Dave's father, has blamed Wayne Bennett and Ivan Henjak for failing to identify the best use for Taylor in the Broncos set up, while Henjak remains unrepentant, insisting he picked players on form throughout the year and wouldn't be influenced by contractual ramifications.
