South Sydney coach Jason Taylor has been sacked by the Rabbitohs, who have called a press conference for 4pm this afternoon to formally announce the decision.

The club has appointed John Lang as the replacement coach on a two-year contract. The decision to sack Taylor was ratified in a board phone hook-up on Thursday afternoon.

Taylor has been informed of the decision and is considering his legal options.
