HEAR a splintering sound on Tuesday? Might have been the sound of a dozen hearts breaking as league heart-throb Craig Wing declared he was quitting Sydney.

Although we gather long-time ex Zoe Foster was not one of those grieving Wing's departure for Japan, as we hear Wing had been dating a series of girls since splitting with Foster in January.

Determined to remain footloose after ending the nine-year relationship, Wing had been sharing himself around with several women - refusing to be photographed with all - but had, we learned, a soft spot for one dark-haired green-eyed beauty. A woman, not that it needs saying.

It won't only be the women of Sydney who miss him though. Several gay men were also said to be inconsolable.
