GOLD Coast lock Ashley Harrison has warned his former club that South Sydney could bury the Titans under a scoring avalanche at Skilled Park today. Harrison, who played for the Rabbitohs from 2003 to '05 before switching to the Roosters, said the 2009 Souths outfit could ask questions of the best defence.

He said a repeat of last Monday's performance when the Titans crashed 34-20 to Penrith would see the Titans slip further down the ladder unless there is an improved attitude in defence.

Harrison also vowed to pick up his own game after a display he said was below the standards he set himself.

"I probably let myself down in a couple of areas, but I can't dwell on that," he said. "This competition is a marathon not a sprint so I have to put that behind me. Souths definitely throw a lot of fo oty at you and ask a lot of questions so we're going to have to improve our defence a lot to be competitive.

"They've shown they can score plenty of points and their defence isn't too bad either."

Souths are on eight premiership points, two behind the Gold Coast in fifth spot but have scored 156 points to the Titans 132. Gold Coast have conceded 108 points while Souths have let in 118.

"There are things that have been winning us games every week where we weren't good against Penrith," Harrison said.

"It just goes to show if you are one per cent off your game you're going to get beaten."

Harrison was named in the Queensland State of Origin preliminary squad this week and is close to a certainty to play in Origin 1 in Melbourne on June 3 after being part of last year's winning team.

"I enjoyed it and want to be part of it again," he said. "Mick Crocker will be a big loss but whoever they pick to put on that Maroon jersey will know what to expect."

Crocker has been linked to the Rabbitohs this week as his frustration grows at his inability to get a visa to play with English club, Hull. Souths CEO Shane Richardson said it was no secret the Rabbitohs were interested in Crocker.

Rabbitohs lock Craig Wing travelled with the team to the Coast yesterday and is expected to play despite barely being able to train after being concussed in a Paul Gallen tackle last week.

Former Test forward, Brad Meyers returns to the Titans from a shoulder injury with youngster Will Matthews back to Queensland Cup.

Titans coach John Cartwright said the club was keen to maintain its unblemished record at Skilled Park this year but last year's shock 24-23 loss to Souths in Sydney was a reminder of the job at hand.

"It was a game we had marked on the calendar as a win," he said. "We were going into the game pretty healthy and in good form. But it was the beginning of a bad trot."

Today's kick-off time is 3pm.

The game will be Titans forward Anthony Laffranchi's 150th first grade game.
