South Sydney halfback Chris Sandow has claimed the Peter Moore award for the 2008 Rookie of the Year.

A Gold Coast junior, Sandow cracked the No.7 jersey with the Rabbitohs in Round 13 and never looked back.

Winning his first five matches in the top grade, Sandow has developed a lethal combination with halves partner and mentor Craig Wing and was instrumental in South Sydney’s mid-season revival.

Sandow edged out Melbourne’s Sika Manu, Penrith’s Lachlan Coote and Manly’s David Williams for the honours.

“I just grabbed the opportunity with both hands and didn’t look back,” Sandow explained after accepting the coveted award.
